Galerie Francesca Pia and Jahn und Jahn are pleased to announce a jointly organized group exhibition featuring the work of Isa Genzken, Ana Pellicer, Josef Strau, Al Taylor, and Stefan Tcherepnin.
In their work, all five artists express an attitude of opposition against established aesthetics, artistic genres, and judgments of taste. Employing unique forms of poetry and humor, they deliberately challenge canonical norms with an antithetical practice that tends toward the unfinished, the provisional, and the open-ended. Their work also moves beyond common boundaries of genre in its combination of visual art with literature or music.
An important source of inspiration for all of the artists is the city of New York, not only as the center of a broad and vibrant art scene but also as an artistic subject. The exhibition unites different generations whose artistic kinship is a shared posture and approach.
