Reversed relics—entering a room of Ulrike Schulze’s sculptures requires a gentle departure from expectations. The space seems to be awake and alert. Steel plateaus rise through the air. Wooden materials create optical warmth and invite viewers to surrender to their surfaces, colors, and positions within the space. Erect, horizontal, square, or rectangular, her sculptures operate as architectural or archaeological fragments—inverted relics that point away from the past and towards the future. The show is organized in cooperation with VAN HORN and Alexander Warhus and on view at KNUSTxKUNZ+ in the Theresienstraße.

In cooperation with Norma Mangione, Knust Kunz Gallery Editions also presents a joint exhibition of Italian artists in its gallery on the Ludwigstraße. The legendary Italianità—with its majesty, historical impact, and centuries-long grandeur but also its fatigue and nonchalance—is an ongoing cultural and humanistic project. The role its former city-states has played over the centuries can be compared to the tension in a battery that has fueled the rise and fall of human culture and become entangled by its very own quality.
