Veronika Hilger & Zsófia Keresztes
11.09.2021 – 16.10.2021
Opening 10.09.
Zsófia Keresztes’ sculptures operate at the intersection of reality and virtuality and encourage speculation on how different worlds can overlap and influence one another. Keresztes is interested in the empathetic bodies that result from this cross-pollination, with their reflected desires, discomforts, and sensitivities. Her sculptural forms seem to bleed and flow into each other, amorphous bodies caught up in monumental interdependencies.
Veronika Hilger employs classical visual media such as painting and sculpture to create a discursive space in which current biopolitical, techno-industrial, and existential questions about the human condition can be considered. Moving between abstraction and figuration, formlessness and form, her work seems to inhabit a state of in-betweenness, of coming into being.
This intermediacy characterizes the work of both Keresztes and Hilger. Both artists create instinctively shaped organisms whose reason for being is as much a function of art history as it is a (post-)digital world.
